Creating & Teaching Art

I was lucky enough to have had very positive experiences as a young person who enjoyed expressing ideas visually and getting to know different art materials. I thank my family and a few very good teachers for that.

After having the opportunity to pursue jewelry and metalsmithing at Rhode Island School of Design I graduated and started my small jewelry company - DaSilva Studios. It was not long before I decided to earn a graduate degree in Art Education. It remains a challenging but rewarding balancing act to be a teacher and a working artist. I currently work as a middle and high school visual art teacher in Fitchburg, Massachusetts and continue to create handpainted enamel jewelry in my home studio.

In addition to making and teaching art, I have also spent over a decade writing and performing songs with my husband John Garrett. We recently relocated to rural Massachusetts after spending three years getting to know Reno, Nevada.

We have some recordings that can be found at sosol.bandcamp.com.
